With a population of 300,000 Graz is the second-largest city in Austria and the capital of the Federal State of Styria. In 1999, Graz was added to the UNESCO list of World Cultural Heritage Sites and in 2003, the city was sole Cultural Capital of Europe.

The overall aim is to reduce the freight deliverables by big trucks in the city and therefore to determine the feasibility of consolidated freight transportation to and from large and small businesses in the historic city centre of Graz.
