Complementary projects and initiatives to SMARTSET

The objective of BESTFACT is to develop, disseminate and enhance the utilisation of best practices and innovations in freight transport that contribute to meeting European transport policy objectives with regard to competitiveness and environmental impact.

BESTUFS II aims to maintain and expand an open European network between urban freight transport experts, user groups/associations, ongoing projects, the relevant European Commission Directorates and representatives of national, regional and local transport administrations and transport operators in order to identify, describe and disseminate best practices, success criteria and bottlenecks with respect to City Logistics Solutions (CLS).

Bothnian Green Logistic Corridor |
Bothnian Green Logistic Corridor develops green transport solutions and business models for the Bothnian Corridor and its connections. The project brings together public authorioties and private stakeholders to cooperate for future transnational transport policies and actions.

Clean Fleets |
The Clean Fleets project assists public authorities and fleet operators with the implementation of the Clean Vehicles Directive and the procurement or leasing of clean and energy-efficient vehicles.

Green Highway |
Green Highway is a partnership between the three municipalities of Sundsvall, Östersund and Trondheim. The aim is to create a fossil-fuel-free corridor, as well as to demonstrate that investments in green technology boost the economy and contribute to sustainable growth and reduced environmental impact. In extension, this may mean emission-free destinations that are attractive to both residents and tourists.

Øresund Ecomobility |
In order to reduce GHG emissions from transport activities in the Øresund Region by EcoMobility is working on thematic knowledge exchange networks, creating an Øresund EcoMobility knowledge and innovation center, and undertakes EcoMobility Øresund Capacity Building and Knowledge Sharing activities, such as publications, a website, conferences, and courses for professionals and university students.

Rail Baltica Growth Corridor |
The RBGC partnership promotes transport policies for the development of multimodal logistics and modern railway infrastructure in Eastern Baltic Sea Region. The main focus is set on improving passenger mobility and freight transportation along Rail Baltica route. Furthermore the project is organizing multilevel dialogue about transport policies of Baltic countries.

Smartfusion |
Smartfusion is a public-private partnership (PPP) which will build upon the existing urban freight development strategies of three demonstration city-regions: Newcastle, Berlin and the Lombardy region. It will demonstrate smart urban freight solutions in urban-interurban supply chains.

STRAIGHTSOL is a 3-year EU-funded project, comprising seven innovative cutting edge urban freight demonstrations, and is working on strategies and measures for smarter urban freight solutions.

SUGAR focuses on addressing the problem of inefficient and ineffective management of urban freight distribution, a critical component of the overall urban transport system and a primary source of vehicle pollutant emissions.

By improving rail services for combined transport and optimizing intermodal nodes, the project supported the modal shift in favour of the railway system.
